Christ’s Life; Perfectly According To Plan, Mark 10:32-34

The entirety of Christ’s life on earth was predestined by God. His life was not a matter of simply going where circumstances happened to take Him. Even the most dark day of the Lord’s life was precisely carried out according to plan. Jesus came to this earth on a salvation mission, to do what sinful humans could never do for themselves. Please look up and discuss Acts 2:23

Our text is specifically about Christ’s willful, voluntarily steps toward His death by crucifixion. We see what kind of leader He is from our text.

I.  Jesus, A Resolute Leader [verse 32a&b]

Discuss:

What comes to your mind when you think about Jesus leading the way?

Robertson was quoted when he said: “they [Christ’s followers] correctly read the face of Jesus.”

Please discuss Isaiah 50:7.

What do you think they saw to cause them to be amazed?

What was it that caused fear?

Jesus leading us is something that our lives depend on. Jesus, lead on O’ King eternal!

Look up Deuteronomy 31:3&8 & Matthew 28:20 and talk about what Jesus’ leadership means to members of the group.

Please read the following:

Refrain:

He leadeth me, he leadeth me,

by his own hand he leadeth me;

his faithful follower I would be,

for by his hand he leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom,

sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom,

by waters still, o'er troubled sea,

still 'tis his hand that leadeth me.

II. Jesus, A Comforting Leader [verse 32c]

Jesus took the time to pull His disciples aside and explain to them what was going on.

What does this say to us about self pity in the midst of sorrow?

What does Christ explaining things say about His leadership? What are words that come to your mind when thinking about this? Example: “sensitivity”

Jesus is a comforter, see John 14:16

III. Jesus, A Divine Leader [verses 33&34]

Jesus, because He was [and is] God could, with perfect precision, give prophetic details of His coming death. This was the third time that He had talked about His death. Compare this more detailed account with both Mark 8:31 & 9:30 and discuss differences.

See Luke 18:31 and look up Zechariah 12:10 and Psalm 22 as example prophesies which foretold of the exact nature of the Messiah’s death.

Note the disciples reaction to Christ’s words in Luke 18:34

Because of who Jesus is, He can be trusted. Let’s delight in His leadership and what He has done for us!
