Jacob M. Johnson’s heart at the beginning of his time as pastor at City Light was to see a church in the mission field of Wilke-Barre, Pennsylvania that is rooted in God’s Word, alive in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, genuinely loving, and immerses itself in the local community. Because of Jesus, this is exactly what has happened and continues to happen as the church takes shape!
Jacob’s church background officially makes him a thorough mix or a “church mutt.” His understanding of doctrine could be defined as Calvinistic and Continuationist even though he is not big on labels as they can mean various things to people (He would love to talk to you if you have questions about these terms.). He has been the pastor of City Light Church for over ten years. He holds a B.S. degree in Pastoral Ministries from Southwestern Assemblies of God University and an M.A. degree, magna cum laude, in Biblical and Theological Studies from Knox Theological Seminary. He is married to Crystal and they are the parents of four children: Ariel, Naomi, Ethan, and Lydia.
